Phyto is derived from the greek word phutón, which means “plant”. For me, a plant means more than just the flower or the tree. The word describes the whole living organism, and its interaction with the environment and other spieces. It is important that we take part in this interaction responsibly. That is why I never harm the plants when I photograph them. When I am finished with the photographic process I leave them as I found them. To be honest, I might cut a blade of grass or two, or carefully set aside them in order to expose my subject, but that is as far as I go to be able to capture the flowers.

My girlfriend suggested the phrase phyto photo as a name for my homepage. I found it neat, and when I discovered that you could register a domain as .photos it was settled; phyto.photos.
